Little Ms. Fai-RUE Takes An Award!

Guess what, people. I was given the Hali-Meow Award at PAWS' Scaredy Cats and Dogs Contest in Eastwood! Life is great!
As you've seen during my dress fitting, momma wanted me to be a fairy because it rhymes with my name. So she had a beautiful dress made, and looked for wings. However, she was having a hard time putting on the tiara on my little head. I just wouldn't let her. Teehee. So we paraded in my beautiful costume, and everyone thought I am the Angel Cat!
I had fun, although it got a little hot after an hour. And chaotic. There were dogs all over! Eeeek! Good thing momma hugged me all the time. Oh, and I had a blast with everyone! All those pet mommas and photographers wanted to have a photo with me, weee! I felt like a little celebrity :) Some of them recognized me from momma's posts in PAWS multiply site. Others thought I was just too cute so they wanted to have a souvenir photo wif me :)
Do you know Aliya Parcs? She's a singer celebrity, and she was stroking my head when I was telling momma that I was upset (and hungry) already from all the parading onstage! I think I got her under my spell :) And Wilma Doesnt, too! They were among the celebrity judges.
Aren't you excited to see my photos? Here they are! But they're not complete yet. We're still waiting for Tita Mia to upload the photos that she took, because momma's Nikon has been acting up.
Just being a hali-meow, teehee. |
I was scared at first. It was noisy! |

This Is It :(

So Qish has to receive sub-cutaneous fluid every other day -- for the rest of his life. We've been doing that, going to the vet all the time. He has been hating the procedure (of course!), and has snapped at the people handling him. He even managed to bite me. Twice. He hates being surrounded by people he doesn't know, and by now he learned that the animal hospital equates to "torture" and "pain."
I've contemplated on administering it myself -- I've been reading a lot about it, particularly the experiences shared by those who went through the same with their cat. The whole procedure goes like this: insert the needle under his skin, let the IV drip run for 5-7 minutes, then take out the needle. Sounds easy. The problem is, I've always been queasy around needles. I don't even watch the nurse draw blood from me when I need to have a blood test. So this is a really hard decision for me, and I'm only doing so out of my love and respect for Qish. I don't want him to feel that he's being tortured whenever I bring him to the vet.
So this evening, when we went to the vet, we had a take home:
I hope I can do this. I have to. I am really scared, as this will be my first time ever to poke a breathing creature with a needle.

Momma told me that I'm joining PAWS' Scaredy Cats and Dogs Halloween Contest this year. I AM EXCITED! Tita Mela's mom is making my fabulous costume to make me your Little Ms. Fai-RUE! Tita said her mom will put little beads on it if the fit is good already. Momma didn't want to post the photos yet, but I've sneaked in a few shots here. Oh, and please watch the video! Momma thinks I look really cute. Teehee. Check me out, and let me know if I look good! I want to win! :)
I'm checking out the birdies at the balcony. What would they think if they see my wings? |

I won in Bow & Wow's PETparazzi contest! Weeee! I'm proud to say that I'm the only "Pinoy" pet among the winners -- all of the dogs and the other cat who won have breeds, and I'm the only Puspin!
So here are the photos when we claimed my prize: 3-month supply of products from Bow & Wow at P2,500/month, for a total of P7,500! Weeeee!
Momma and I decided to donate one month (P2,500) to PAWS. We know that there are a lot of cats at the shelter, and they need help! I am excited to "pay it forward" to PAWS! Life has been good to me, from the time I was rescued by momma from the street. This is just my way of saying thanks to everything good that's happening in my little cat life :)
So here are the photos that made me win! Thanks to everyone who voted for me! Special thanks to Nugget's momma for supporting me, yay for Puspins, right Nugget? :)

Oh Qish :(

I couldn't help it. I just found myself crying uncontrollably last night.
I was googling about Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) because Qish vomitted white foam the other night, and he hasn't been eating again yesterday. Qish has been diagnosed with Acute Renal Failure (ARF) about two weeks ago, and I have since been scared of things to come. The difference between ARF and CRF is that ARF is caused by a trauma, stress or a situation that renders the kidney (or parts of it) to not function, and it can be treated to restore normal kidney functions; while CRF is a degenerative disease that keeps on getting bad everyday. The kidney never recovers, and the end for a CRF cat is inevitable, because the kidney just stops working. It can range from living a quality life for a few months to about a year or two. Our vet assured me that everything is okay, but I'm just feeling a little bit uncomfortable with it. I dunno, maybe it's cat momma's instinct, or maybe I have just become too paranoid. But somehow his symptoms point to CRF. I hope and pray that I'm wrong.
I came across this article and it just totally broke my heart into pieces: Emotional Rollercoaster. That site, and this one, have been providing a lot of information and support from pet parents who have gone through it with their beloved cat/s.
I just hope that I am simply being paranoid, that I have only been reading and thinking too much. But feeling Qish's sharp bones under his skin and seeing him frail and thin is saying otherwise. It's just heartbreaking to see him this way.
